We were stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel (which wasn't my first choice but I left it at the last minute to book and this was the only hotel left with the package that included breakfast and entrance passes to SEA, Universal and Waterpark) in May 2013. At least it was the closest hotel to SEA and Universal. Check in was really quick and we were pointed to the direction of the elevators with our key cards and passes in an envelope. The lobby is really dark but they play fantastic music. This is the Hard Rock Hotel, after all. They're definitely not going for bright and cheery. More like grungy and dreary. If the kids weren't with me, I would have had a fabulous time just hanging by the bar listening to the music.
As we approached the elevators, the whole place started to smell really weird. Kind of like a cross between sweat, smoke and alcohol. I had read some of the reviewers complaining about the weird smell. Rooms were huge and spacious. Amenities limited and outdated. Cool retro posters of the Police, Sting, the Beatles on the walls. We had two rooms, connecting, no issues getting someone to come and open the door. Breakfast was fabulous though, even though there is always a line and you have to wait to be seated, the area is huge and the staff is very competent and quick about getting the line moving fast and everyone seated quickly.

It was fantastic to see everyone. I haven't seen Terence since I was 6....pity it was cut short. James was still feeling very under the weather and so I decided to eat and run - got some chicken rice into him and me and then I brought him back to the hotel. Hamish was having a ...
... and so on. This was actually quite helpful because Singapore is also hot. And humid. With regular thunderstorms. Walking along Orchard Park (the Champs Elysee of Singapore) was an effort – if it weren’t for the air conditioned breezes wafting from Louis Vitton and Hermes we might have totally wilted! Suffice it to say, we didn’t do a lot of typical sight seeing; that will have to wait for another visit. Besides shopping, we did manage to check out ...
