... Weather was pretty iffy most of the day but was a very scenic route. Stopped at Astoria at the Best Western - good hotel - rate $108 plus $15 for George. Was clean and relatively new. Ate dinner at the Ship Inn which was a good seafood place. Basic and definitely not fine dining but good ...

Stayed at EconoLodge - very basic - fairly clean but allowed pets and was cheap - $55.00 with only $10 for George. ... by water as most of them are islands. It is all about fishing and tourism. On the way there are beautiful fields growing lots of food such as corn and pumpkins. It seems to be such a rich area.

We kept following the road and we ended up on a ferry which took us over to the town of Everett. and then crossed the Highway 5 and headed east towards Mount Baker. It was a beautiful drive through the mountains. We saw a church that was so small it would only fit two people in it.
