... babble of Hindi, I gratefully accepted a chai and took drags of the joint that was soon passed around the room, the only thing to do! Kit and I relaxed into a lazy sleep, the others left the apartment to search out friends to accompany us on the trip. We aited and waited for them to return, they never did. At 10pm they still hadn't come, and we had to brave our wits against 'Auntie', Anabel's stern, English speaking mum who had more authority than the strictest headmaster and refused to ...
Goa, Goa, India lonesomegeorge... the details of their rituals, details which manifest themselves in the construction of their homes and their boats, in the mending of their nets, in the food they eat, in virtually every aspect of their lives from the moment they awaken to the moment they sleep. Here exists an equilibrium of life that I have not witnessed anywhere else, an equilibrium maintained by their collective wisdom. During my visit to the western villages in Kerala ...
Goa, Goa, India wabiblo... fork tines are put at different points on your body several times and it eventually completely relaxes the body. Cerebral massage- The idea is that the body is mostly liquid and if you focus pressure up under the head on certain points you can help with pain in your body. Finger pushing massage- From what I understand the thumb is pushed *********g the muscle tendons which helps lengthen them. It sounded like a shiatsu type of massage and I was told it felt good ...
Goa, Goa, India carrienica05... yelping in time with the music. BILL PLEASE!! We left hurriedly, and even half a mile down the beach, we could still hear the dulcet tones of Brian Adams extolling the virtues of the Summer of '69, enthusiastically cheered on by the "Stockholm Tokers Mixed Voice Choir"......nice. (Sorry, Gabriella!!) After a great week in Anjuna, we took a taxi to Margao in Southern Goa which took one hour, where we boarded the train to Kerala ...
Goa, Goa, India butterfills... to eat than i've eaten in all my Asia trip I think!. I've had the privilege of being shown another side of Goa, which i did'nt get to see when I came here last 12 years ago, so much has changed in the State, we went up to Calangute and I could'nt recognize the town as its really become developed as the tourists have flooded in ( hence I stuck to the South which is much more relaxed and easygoing and not as developed). Theres loads of Ex-Pats here and people who keep ...
Palolem, India vastutraveller... his beach shack. They are small shacks made out of bamboo raised off the ground, with a double bed, light, fan, plug socket and a balcony. They are only a few meters from the beach. I've been here 5 days now and hevn't done much. Swim in the sea, place frisbe, volleyball and sit in my hammock. But all the while I've been meeting some really good people. The people who rent out the beach shacks are all really nice and friendly. I hang out with them in the evening and talk with ...
Goa, India mercury... that in a straightforward manner is the only reason why this experience can be frustrating at times. but more often, i truly get the opportunity to experience time the way i want; with no deadlines demands and responsibility, i can get up every morning and do what i want to do, without guilt. doing this successfully calls for a real honesty with yourself, which frankly is something i'm continuing to work on; it's somewhat contradictory to be easy going about what you do and ...
Anjuna beach, goa, India bowz... will they get during the monsoon? As the locals sandbag the beachfront. We walk to town, for dinner, in heavy rain everything showing below our jackets getting drenched. And slowly the water heads back up into your crutch aided by the water bouncing off the ground. Baby frogs leaping around our feet. The Baumfields looking very stylish in their long yellow ponchos, maybe it' Surely this is the beginning of the monsoon? Once again our waiter assures us,,,,,"no no no Sir,,,,pre-monsoon ...
Palolem Beach, India hotfield... on the road side yesterday - it was absolutely fabulous!! Very sweet with a little bit of lemon... It's neat to see the different food and drink of the different regions - for instance, we've been searching high and low for kulfi (Indian ice cream - sooo good)in Goa but it just doesn't exist here like it does in the north. Our tour took us to a spice farm as well (thus the Spice Girls :-))... I must admit that I was quite disappointed. It was super duper touristy ...
