... down it is raining, a lot.
But, we took a group trip on a boat to Rovinj where we had a tour and then stopped for "Hot Chocolate" which was really just melted chocolate with whipped cream on top, and it was delicious. On the boat on the way back to Pula we had a dance party while cruising through the big waves, which was quite the thrill.
We pass our days by counting ...
... night and seem to be getting some of my strength back its taken it out of me and luckily have had Ian around to help me. Everytime I got up I just felt dizzy but thats common I think with concussion. Ian had to feed me soup the other day as my hands would not stop shaking but as I said I am feeling a lot better now and even agreed to move on to Opatija which is about 2 hours down the coast and a little ...
Rovinj, Istria, Croatia traceybelle... to sit down as the pain was really getting to me. I knew then that I was going to faint I could tell after fainting a few times before everything goes weird and things start going fast I kinda thought I could stop myself but no joy. The next thing I knew Ian was trying to bring me round after putting me in the recovery position and had some tissue on my head as I had fell head first into 500 year old ...
Rovinj, Istria, Croatia traceybelle... follow suit and to catch up with me, just as we approached the busy beach.
After an afternoon at the beach, we returned to the yacht and sailed into the Harbor at Rovinj. We moored stern to at the mouth of the northern marina and took the short walk around the harbor to the old town out on an oval peninsula with a church on top. We found a place to eat dinner and then returned to the yacht for the night.
... and so we waited by the bus stop in town until our bus, the real one, came and picked us up. We all got a good laugh when we saw people who had been waiting at the train station with us and who were laughing to see us on the side of the road looking rather forlorn in a random little town
.
When we got to Pula we learned the next bus to the airport, where our car could be picked up, was not leaving for ...
... the main harbor. It looks much like an old Italian fishing village, with the same stucco homes, window shutters, flowerboxes, and simple wooden fishing boats.
The hilltop church of Saint Euphemia can be seen for miles, and overlooks the water and nearby islands. Legend says the sarcophogus of St. Euphemia floated onshore in Rovinj after ...
... someone told us we couldnt drink them. When the driver came by to seeour tickets, he said absolutely nothing about us drinking these two fine Croatian beers. You gotta love Europe where you can still drink openly on the streets (and buses). During our drive back to Pula, Charlotte kept me entertained by showing me all the scars on her body and explaining the stories behind each of them. Unfortunately I didnt have any scars to share with her ...
Pula, Croatia dinovagabond... they had a "Colosseum". In addition they had many other Roman architecture remains (like Roman theatre and the Arch). I guess that makes sense as it is close to Italy. We spent about 3 hours there and it was the time well spent. About 3pm we left Pula and took the coastal way to get to Opatija. The road was along the coast and the views were spectacular (see photos). I was annoying my father in law every ...
Pula, Croatia rvsIn this entry, I am combining Pula and Zagreb because they happened on the same day and neither of them is worth their own entry. PULA I took the bus from Porec to Pula on the day that I was to head to Zagreb. I just wanted to see the coliseum that the Romans had built there over 2000 years ago. When I got there, I stowed my bags at the train station and started walking. I came across the coliseum quickly because it was so big. I was displeased to learn that I had to ...
Pula and Zagreb, Croatia amullett... use them as entertainment venues! They were in fact setting up stages in two of the places we saw. The Croatians clearly see the gem that this city is in terms of tourism potential as they are working very ******* museum exhibits and general post-war cleanup. We had ice cream, I guess actually it's gelato, at a shop run by a very humorous man. He had a little bit of fun with us when we didn't give him enough credit for the amount of English he had a grasp of.
