Was pd cold in the morning – a clear night and zero
insulation in the marine ply walls and roof – very disinclined to strip off for

... the 45 minute flight. The flight was slightly delayed due to fog in La Serena (one of the conditions which allows wine to be considered cold climate in the region despite how close to the equator it is).

... Vila and we are so thankful of getting put in here, it's really nice and great location. The house is lived in by a Chilean family and they have little vila's on the land for their guests. Once we had dropped off our luggage we headed to the supermarket for some food to cook for the next couple of days. One because in the house there was a huge kitchen we could use and two because the food here is really expensive to eat out all the time ...
... with larger vistas and more cacti. The cacti are quite pretty - not as large as saguaros but nicely shaped and covered with prickles. The way back I felt a bit more secure driving and not quite so anxious about stalling the car on a big hill or falling off the sides of the hills - since there weren't guard rails on all the corners.

... Beach, but it was closed (it is the off-season for tourism, and their big national holiday was a few weeks ago, so not much is going on here now). We ended up going to a restaurant called Bakulic, and enjoyed pisco sours, empanadas, steaks, and seafood risotto on the beach. It was a great time!
