There is normally a very, very long cable car ride from here back to Italy, but now it is closed for maintenance. We rode up to the Aiguille du Midi peak and it lightly snowed. I again suffered from being at this altitude and was a bit "off" for the remainder of the day. This was unfortunate as we were yet to drive to L'Alpe d"Huez.

... Great value, lovely view of snow capped mountains, a simple large clean room with a modern bathroom and a friendly helpful host (with a cute French accent). We dined in the Old Town, a 15 minute walk up a steep hill. At least the descent was easy, necessary after a medieval meal that ended with tossing down some schnapps. Welcome to the Mountains.
Tonight is our last night in France. Tomorrow we head for Italy - Lago Maggiore here we come!

Upon arrival, she immediately started feeling better. We went to meet up with our friends who had rented an apartment and offered to let us steal one of the unoccupied beds. It was this day that my infatuation for this sport has reached critical mass! I still ( two weeks later) spend so much of my time thinking about how to get back to a mountain and ride some more! I think proximity to a ski resort will be one of the things that stand out on all future job perks!

We've just had the most amazing week at ski fest in the French alps! 6 days in the mountains with hundreds of other kiwi and Aussies and different events on each night.
