... all creat a city that needs more than 3 days to discover.

The view from our apartment is of the roof tops over the Old Town - terracotta tiles, turrets, unexpected door ways, chimneys - all add to the ambiance. See the photo attached.

tomorrow we are off to Rome airport and then its port where we will spend one night before embarking upon our 10 night cruise. so a new adventure awaits.

Such a lovely morning that we delay setting off and have a potter around Besancon. It is a really charming town and we will definitely come back again. ... damage bill was significantly less than Tetsuya's in Sydney.

We started with a Mumm's champagne with the amuse bouche which comprised three small tastes; a creme tomato gaspacho, piece of prawn on a bed of ??? and a chunk of avocado covered in a foam. All were lovely but the gaspacho caught both of our attention. It was chilled, creamy smooth and absolutely delightful.

The frog soup with cress for entree was also quite creamy with a mushroom flavour and lots ...

The only reason we ended up in Lyon was because it was the closest big city to Switzerland on our way out of the country by train. I booked us an Airbnb place, and we arrived just after 6pm, in the pouring rain, tired, cranky and starving (the last one was mainly me).
