We caught the wrong train and wound up in Gengenbach. While we were waiting for a train back we met a lady who told us the town had a beautiful old-town section. So we went discovering again. After a good look around we stopped at a pub while we were waiting for the next train and got talking to the owner. Turns out he'd been to Australia on holiday, so we had a good time talking to him until it was time to go.

... they have is from 1885, given that it was over €100 for a glass of that vintage I settled for my birth year vintage instead which was about 10% of that price... and worth every cent! My only regret on the night was that I wasn't able to also have the Escargot that young couple on the table next to me (all of 2cm away) were sharing. I would definitely say to come to the Alsace region if you had a spare weekend handy, it was well worth the visit.
