... castle had four levels and we went all the way to the top where we saw a cross on the top of the chapel. Ben thought the views from the top were brilliant. Next stop was the Chateau de Blois. This castle had horses at the front - Jon wanted to go for a ride but sadly we didn't have time. The horses were big and had hairy feet. Blois was very pretty and the castle was excellent - looking very different from different sides. Last we ...

... past and went into one of the cubicles. Sue was following me and I heard her ask if the toilets were open. On being told "Non!" she had to go about a hundred yards to search for the only other block on site. Other campers were also wandering round like there was a treasure hunt going on. Well i was warmer last night. I put extra insulation between me and the bed. Lovely morning. Went to Chambord Castle. It is a huge place with lots going on. We walked around the main building but didn't go inside. I don't think we would have appreciated it fully as the tour guides only spoke rapid French. The building is very beautiful and has a huge number of turrets. When you look at the castle, the turrets (although very ornate) are really random. You ...

With just a short day's ride today we had a late start, and with a Maccas just down the street, John thought he would have a change of cuisine for brekky. However, the McCafe was the only part open, and he had croissants again. I did have a lovely cup of tea, however. It was another day of relatively flat riding, mostly beside the river. Today was mostly along a track we have come to call the tow path. It is asphalt, runs beside the river, and runs along the ...

... the right road to head out on. There is much consulting of the maps, and believe it or not, a couple of times I worked out the way before John. John has his own pronunciation for the village names, his Japanese is definitely better than his French. There are lots of other riders, although at times we could go 10 kms without seeing anyone. We have seen the same two guys at least 5 times in the last two days. By now they greet us ...
