... br> After lunch we took the subway to the Duomo - an amazing old church in the heart of the city. It is massive in size and "awe" effect. The floors were my favorite part of touring the inside. They are marble with a very pretty large floral print. Museum at Academia for a bit of culture- lots of painting of last supper that were rescued(?) from churches in town. Some really old 14c stuff and some more recent restored items. Amazing brushwork and huge alter pieces some with bible stories that were new to me. Spent arvo wandering lanes and canals. Pizza at same restaurant. ...

... the church did not have the real estate for a true apse. When you get to the side chapels you can see that it is flat and a mathematical and artistic illusion. We head back to the Duomo Cathedral and see that people are going in so we walk past the still present guards right into a funeral Mass for the Cardinal.
