... out the large sand box (yes, sand!) so we got out the boys shovels and buckets and they spent some time digging. We finally headed back to the apartment with dark clouds on the horizon. We had promised the boys to try out the large bouncy house playground and maybe even play mini-golf in the evening, but the forecast was nasty and the radar ominous, so instead we joined everyone else for dinner at a nice Italian restaurant along the beach ...

... eyes once or twice. Eventually, we entered a long, downward tunnel and emerged within sight of the Adriatic Sea. It was significantly warmer, and very sunny. We had three apartments in a nice building near the sea shore, and were able to walk to dinner along the main road within site of the sea. It was a really wonderful experience walking through the many chambers in the eerie darkness. I half expected Gollum to jump out at me. Leaving Venice

A travel blog entry by sr_trip_2015 on Jun 05, 2015

Our ship was moored at the smaller of two passenger vessel terminals. I had the sense that it once was the terminal for steerage passengers from England starting the eastern leg of the "Grand Tour." It was a cavernous building with dark, unlit and presumably unused corners. Portions were "cooled" by post-WW2 ceiling fans, except in the security area. There was no cooling in that area. The security personnel ...
