    ... has been owned and operated by one family since 1906. It has several guest rooms. We stayed in one of the “new” (superior) rooms. It was very pleasant and had a wonderful view of the river. We were only here for one night. This was one of only a few one night stops.

    ... Lamego and a 1700s church that had a staircase of 685 steps reaching it. The stairs were broken up into segments separated by landings with statues and fountains. No, we did not walk up them, but we did walk down them to the center of town after visiting the church via bus. The church is also somewhat infamous in that there is a statue of the virgin mother was a bare breast, nursing the baby Jesus (the only one in the world?).

    ... and found a local restaurant with customers inside (all the others were empty as today is a national holiday in Portugal). We were told it was a set menu which was good with us, dishes kept arriving and very soon we were too full to move.
