... Just beyond the ship, however, Pedro #2 (a third member of the Borealis walking club) had found a pleasant little park in which to set up a snack bar! Walkers finishing the trail and travelers who visited the quinta with Scott trickled into the park to see what culinary magic the Borealis team had prepared for this pre-lunch (ship was serving the "real" lunch in under an hour!). Cheese and olives were on display and Hugo was trying to ...

We cruised this beautifully sunny morning to the town of Pinhao, enjoying the quiet of this narrow part of the river with little more than vineyards to offer. Of course, we did go through a lock, which still brings the passengers out on the deck to see the process one more time.

As soon as we arrived, we climbed on our buses and went up, up and ...

      ... steps, while I watched.)

A festival was in progress in Lamego, with many interesting items for sale as well as delicious treats to eat and drink. The Portuguese Presunto air-cured ham is just as delicious as the Italian Prosciutto or the Spanish Serrano hams, which we enjoyed several times during our trip. We should have bought a couple of those vibrantly colored hats!
