... flag one down and he pulled up immediately outside our caravan and opened the doors. I was welcomed with a smile, greeting and a handshake, passed comment on the beautiful Portuguese weather, before buying a long white loaf (no resemblance to the French baguette), he popped in an additional two large rolls. And the 'damage'? Just €1, but the moment was priceless and something which you never experience when your holiday ...

We have a beautiful breakfast in the lounge at Carmo's. We can't eat outside as it is too cold and later it starts raining. What a contrast from yesterday. We head off for Viseu. Its motorway the whole way a lot of it high up in mountains with spectacular bridges and viaducts. There are hardly any cars on it and even less lorries. We cross over the Douro River but ...

... happy with it. I have been struggling a but with speed limits, I sit on 105 in the 100 zone and see no others for 20 minutes (toll roads) and then they fly past in smallish groups at maybe 120-130. Yesterday I decided to tag on the back of the pack. HiHo went from 105 to 155 very quickly but I hen decided it wasn't a good idea and backed off down to 110.

We've seen lots of eucalypts on the side of the road in plantations, mostly blue gums, ...

We drove 50 mins to Sátão from Viseu after restocking for the weekend at the supermarket. A gourmet weekend was in order and it's not disappointed one bit. Hand peeled prawns in garlic, olive oil and chorizos, traditional Portuguese rolled pork with a local stuffing smothered in onions, pepper, salt and pepper seasonings, large fish kebabs, aubergine & halloumi parcels, cocktails shaken!!! It's all too much holiday fun... Time to travel Monday ...
