... based - the joys of caravanning. He carries a few other lines such as milk, eggs and cheese so I shall stock up before we leave. As indicated on the information sheet, we drove out to the Saturday morning market at Lamas, a small town but not as we know it in the UK. The stalls included shoes, clothing, hardware, and all sorts of foods, but we bought just fruit and veg for the next few days as we have another camp supper tomorrow ...

We have a beautiful breakfast in the lounge at Carmo's. We can't eat outside as it is too cold and later it starts raining. What a contrast from yesterday. We head off for Viseu. Its motorway the whole way a lot of it high up in mountains with spectacular bridges and viaducts. There are hardly any cars on it and even less lorries. We cross over the Douro River but ...

... with pine trees. Odd mix. Speaking of timber, I am amazed at the things here that are made of, handbags, watch straps, hats, ugg boots...I guess they know that corks for bottles are disappearing.

We drove 50 mins to Sátão from Viseu after restocking for the weekend at the supermarket. A gourmet weekend was in order and it's not disappointed one bit. Hand peeled prawns in garlic, olive oil and chorizos, traditional Portuguese rolled pork with a local stuffing smothered in onions, pepper, salt and pepper seasonings, large fish kebabs, aubergine & halloumi parcels, cocktails shaken!!! It's all too much holiday fun... Time to travel Monday ...
