... arrives, probably in an hour or two.

Now I'm feeling a little remote. I'm pretty good at making the best of a situation, and dealing with the resources I have. As I haven't eaten yet today, I search a few of the nearby gardens for a bit of fruit to tide me over. Under the cover of early morning light I find a mature pomegranate tree loaded with fruit. I grab 5 of the plumpest fruits I can find and wander ...
Faro, Faro, Portugal jmckerricherIn Albufeira, we went to a Portugese bullfight, not the real deal as in they don't kill the bull, rather they stab them in the back with a bunch of arrows. I thought it was mean, especially the first bull because it was pretty much still a baby and looked scared instead of angry. Jon ...
Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal sofenjon... about perfect and the most direct. QF9 Mel to Lon, then switching airports in London to catch BA2694 to Faro), and the timings meant we missed a lot of the crowds and traffic, particularly in London - so well done to Yvonne who pulled together our travel arrangements.

There were a few things we had to watch along the way - mainly in London, for instance, there is now a shuttle bus service that runs between London Heathrow and Gatwick airports (so no longer a ...
Faro, Algarve, Portugal pat_n_melNo trip to Portugal would be complete without a trip to the Algarve. Its reputation as Portugal's Costa Del Sol does it no favours and we've been deliberating for ages to see if we can get some beach time without the socks and sandals brigade, Sky Sports, bacon and eggs and News of the World. That said, the Algarve offers mile upon mile of beautiful coastline dotted with countless beautiful beaches and this is tempting ,for one of us at least.
<br ...
Tavira, Algarve, Portugal warm... discovering a gem of a local restuarant with amazing bbq chicken. 6 euro for dinner!!

The next day to fill in time before departing we looked at the Chapel of Bones, which was built from the bones of the monks from the local cemetary. Over 1200 skulls. Definite goosebumps eh!

Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal dovi... our days here sitting near the port or wandering along the ocean side or sitting in the sun sipping coffee and not really doing very much. After a couple of relaxing days it was time to move on. I said farewell to Caroline (she was going back up to England) in the morning and then jumped on a train to Lisbon. I am back travelling on my own for the next few weeks.
Faro, Algarve, Portugal alanna.holloway... the budget airlines land and take off. After checking in and checking out the room (best thing would be the double bed to starfish on and the fan to keep me cool), I went for a wander around town. I was wrong about the Naples feel, this town is okay, very quiet, not many tourists around. Unfortunately all the tourist attractions were closed at this time, so after a wander around I had some dinner and then found my hotel and caught up with world news on CNN.
Faro, Portugal jcastellanAlgave area. Faro, Silves, Tavira etc All very Mediterranean, (how strange a statement is that) but the architecture is all the same, no variations at all. It reminds me very much of Vietnam, I wonder if that is the French influence or which way round who influenced who. The doors of Tavira are fascinating! We purchased a collage to bring home they are wonderful and provide the only variation in ...
Faro, Silves, etc, Portugal emvy.hobbsWe arrived in Armacao de Pera on 21 March and found a really good site. Oh, what a lovely shower!! The weather has finally broken and I am already finding it difficult to stay in the sun. Rocky just goes browner by the day. I got sunburnt last week, I am nearly out of P20 sunblock, we have desparately been trying to buy some here but no success as yet. We have done a bit of travelling whilst we have ...
