... day. The King of Portugal had it built with the intention of it being the finest hotel in Europe but there was a revolution just before it was completed and Portugal became a republic. The bedrooms were completely rebuilt in 2006 but the wonderful public rooms and grand staircase were left untouched. We have a snack lunch and then go to the pool.
