... day. The King of Portugal had it built with the intention of it being the finest hotel in Europe but there was a revolution just before it was completed and Portugal became a republic. The bedrooms were completely rebuilt in 2006 but the wonderful public rooms and grand staircase were left untouched. We have a snack lunch and then go to the pool. Perfect choice of shoe selection for the day and despite the rain, wasn't too wet and managed to not drop into any puddles by either not watching where I was going, sliding into them from the muddy edges, nor from the wet grass I chose as my surface of choice at times!

We have struggled this Camino with accommodation & have been seriously and actively looking each day for the next days destination, booking if we can (frequently not an option) to secure something so that we don't have to do 30+kms every day if we fail.
