    ... sometime. What a gem it is too. The location is very rural, set in a wooded valley, with informal pitching on terraces so you definitely don't feel cramped. The peace and tranquility is only shattered by the chimes from a local church on the hour and half-hour, birdsong and people chatting.     ... lot to Viseu. We check in to the Pousada de Viseu. Pousadas are the state owned equivalent of Paradors in Spain but they are commercially managed by a Hotel group called Pestana.     ... where graduates get their has a little more class than the Melbourne conference centre!!

    There were some very steep steps again - hard to imagine Sandy picking that for her birthday outing!! Luckily we found a funicular for the downwards trip. The Uni cafe was an experience, a gazzilion people in v small area...but cheap food. Afterwards I had an eclair and Sandy had a Portuguese tart.

    We drove 50 mins to Sátão from Viseu after restocking for the weekend at the supermarket. A gourmet weekend was in order and it's not disappointed one bit. Hand peeled prawns in garlic, olive oil and chorizos, traditional Portuguese rolled pork with a local stuffing smothered in onions, pepper, salt and pepper seasonings, large fish kebabs, aubergine & halloumi parcels, cocktails shaken!!! It's all too much holiday fun... Time to travel Monday ...
