Calle Sucre 131 Santa Cruz, Bolivia, 591-714-63854-
Asaf For our final destination in Bolivia we made are way over to Santa Cruz: a tropical lowlands city far removed from the cold, mountainous regions we have visited thusfar. Besides the weather, we had heard and read that SC was completely different from most of the Bolivia that tourists know and as such is not accomodating to tourism either. Besides from what we heard and read about the city you might think this strange because itīs actually the countries largest city, boasts the best night...
Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz, Bolivia beccaroseWe are doing a quick stop in Santa Cruz before leaving for Brazil. The plane from La Paz was a mess delayed many times..Santa Cruz seems nice. There are a lot of huge mansions..wonder where the money comes from..!! The main square is really nice to hang out. We even found an Irish pub! The first one we went to since we started our travels. We stayed in an hostel near by. We were in an empty dorm, so that was cool. There were two toucans in the gardens. They were fighting with their beaks and ...
Santa Cruz, Bolivia leprefrogLanded in sweltering Santa Cruz this morning, having successfully got away from the hostel in Sucre without my vandalism of the bathroom lock being discovered. The most exciting thing about being here is that my hostel has 2 resident toucans, who are spectacular. Santa Cruz is really tropical - hot and humid, with a corresponding slowness in its atmosphere which suits me fine - I haven't got many Bolivianos left and don't want to take out more so am focussing on doing nothing until I can fly ...
Santa Cruz, Bolivia missemilygrayArrived in Santa Cruz still bouncing at 10am. If you ever travel from corumba to santa cruz, go by po-go stick instead of the Expresso Oriental (death train) as you will probably bounce less times. The difference between Quijjaro and Santa Cruz thankfully is massive. It was a very welcome improvement and not knowing what to expect before you get there, it was quite a relief. Infact the hostel we stayed at has been the cleanest so far in South America. Just to let you know I'm stopping at res...
Santa Cruz, Bolivia nataschaSuccess feels so good. Like I've said in a few of the past blog updates, Jacqui and I needed to reset our Brasilian visas. We're only allowed to be here for 90 days at a time on the visas we currently have. And we were getting up to the 87 day mark and still need to be here for another 2 weeks. Flying from Campo Grande, Brasil to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia was the fastest, easier way to go to another country from Brasil ...
Santa Cruz, Bolivia big_red_truck... as she is already spoken for. She was very courageous considering that the beauticians didn't speak a word of English.....goodness knows what they could have whipped off in the process, thankfully we both left with all parts in order and accounted for. Well that was my whistle stop visit to Santa Cruz, funfilled and frantic, next,16 hours on an overnight train to cross the border from Bolivia into Brazil.............
Santa Cruz, Bolivia hezza39... on my suitcase on the bus. With the bus driver standing around, trying to assist as much as possible, I told him I had a copy in my suitcase in the luggage compartment. We dashed to the bus, digging thru the luggage compartment, we found my suitcase, and luckily for me, found my visa zerox at the first pass. I ran back into the migracion office, gave the officer my zerox copy, and he grimaced, and frowned. (This was not ...
Santa Cruz, Bolivia jathomaz... for this reason only.... crazy. Once we got bored of questioning him and he got bored of us we were taken on a very short tour of the section, known as Posta and is the 5* section of San Pedro, that the drug traffickers live in. This section is "safe" in comparison to the other sections that house the murderers, rapists and pedophiles. We were shown Daniel´s cell (complete with en-suite), and led down a very dark corridor to the punishment room ...
Santa Cruz, Bolivia jamesharrison... try and rob you, just let them take it; * Enjoy your stay in Santa Cruz. All well and good if you´re a normal person but, as you all know, I am double hard and have two licensed weapons (left and right guns), and would therefore find it impossible to follow point three above. That said, I did venture out with just enough cash to cover a decent dinner at a nearby restaurant which was slightly marred by being seated near a loud American stereotype (most have met on this trip to date ...
