Andorra is not a Schengen member, so any time we spend in Andorra is off the clock, and does not count towards our 90 days. Win!

Secondly, we had planned to ski in Europe. Originally we were thinking Switzerland or France, but Andorra, as it turns out, has really good skiing, is very cheap in comparison, and has a terrific English language ski school.

So, we decided to include a week in Andorra ...

Got up reasonably early to visit Carcassonne, a medieval town that is a Unesco World Heritage site. Boasting a huge fortified castle with ramparts, and a separate outer wall for protection surrounding the old town. Once on the border of France and Spain the chateau et Remparts, had many uses over the year. The audio guide was crammed with interesting facts, going into lots of detail dating back to the 12th century. At the end or the tour we walked around the top of the inside ...

... the village, they then took us to Bernie's cousin's farm in Pech. He had cows and about 30 of them are due to give birth on Monday!! The cows are all kept in a huge shed in winter, and it was feeding time, so the boys loved seeing the cows eat their hay.

We went home and had our last dinner with the Bousigue family. We have had the best time with them all and it was very hard to say goodbye, but we do hope it's not too long until we see them again.

... Beef. Oxtails and broth with lamb chops, pork belly, trotters, chicken, black and white pudding, carrots, chickpeas, potatoes, and cabbage. Amazing. There is a microwave if the guest would prefer their food hotter......and at home its called a boil up. Hilarious and enough to feed a clan not just two of us, wine and water and extra $12.

We have spent the last couple of days walking, sightseeing and shopping. Its been cold ...

... was kind of quaint but cool. Now it is very different. Trade and tourism 60% and Banking 16% are the main drivers here. The biggest buildings are banks and the most prolific are Hotels. It is very commercial! Shop signs and menus are in 5 languages and only alcohol (wholesale) and tobacco are cheap now. Many items including motorcycle gear and electronics (which were cheap) are now more expensive than NZ. While all of the publicity ...
