    ... Renee is the slowest of our group, but is steady and always arrives at our rest spots soaked with perspiration but smiling. Today we learned that he is 72, so he's doing an outstanding job. We are on the top floor/ attic room with 12 mattresses running beside each other in a single line, reminiscent of New Zealand and Tasmania. The showers tonight weren't hot, but not cold either.     ... got better as we left behind the cloud cover on the top of the mountain, and the sun brought welcome relief from the freezing cold.

    Once past the twisty bits, there is a long straight slightly undulating stretch that is perfect for tandems, and we were able to settle into a comfortable 35 kph and enjoy the scenery.
