We left Allauch after a lovely breakfast of fresh bread rolls, an assortment of cheeses and coffee. A French breakfast for sure. There were sweet cakes, croissants and beautiful pastries! After brekky we headed off toward Lyon and then headed north- towards the French/ Swiss alps. Mark found us a beautiful 15thCentury Chalet up high in the mountains. The trip in the ...

Our last refuge in France was de Mottets, quite a relief after the night before. Although it had been converted from a dairy farm, it had spacious, modern rest rooms, hot showers, semi-private bed room (Barbara only had to share with 3 guys this time).

Actually our roomates were very interesting: ...

... holding her other arm. Both of us felt kind of emotional seeing that.

After about 7 hours total hiking we reached Refuge de Croix de Bonhomme. Although the setting was stunning, this would turn out to be our least favorite refuge of the whole trip. Hot showers were not available till 5 pm (get in line) and the hot water ran out about 20 minutes later. The meal was almost inedible, and when the dinning room ...
