... proper moving wheels. Just as well as the bus only takes us part of the way. We then have about a 300m walk including uphill, through a very narrow cobblestone street dodging other tourists. ... rooms. Several of us took the van into the nearest town, Port Louis, to see the fort and French East India museum. Another great visit. Then back to the hotel for a swim in the pool and a relax in the spa in our room! Dinner at 8. We had a room to ourselves and the food and service were the best of the week. It was great to have a nice and relaxing day close to the gite without having to drive too far.

This trip has certainly shown us the benefit of basing ourselves in one location for an extended period rather than being on the go, moving from town to town each day and we know that any trips we do in the future will be spent in only one or two locations and using those places as a base to explore the area.
