The upper Basilica of St Francis was spectacular, with frescoes, painted by Giotto and his school. Mum and I, listened to an audio, telling the stories of Francis, painted in the frescoes.
We had a very good lunch the second time we visited. Mum, Dad and Leah had bean soup. I had the most delicious spinach and sausage toasted sandwich ever!

... leaving the interstate or whatever they call the highways, we began our tortuous and winding way up twisting roads with views beyond imaginings. Tuscany is indeed beautiful and we were treated to miles of grape and olive orc******** the way up. We stopped at a roadside sort of mini mart and grabbed some delicious sandwiches and water before continuing on. ... a bit further on, cos April was concerned about my lack of concentration on the road :/ The hills rolled on seemingly forever, lush with grapevines just coming into bud, silvery olives and beautiful pink and white blossom trees dotted throughout the landscape. Absolutely spectacular!
Most of the roads we travelled on were fairly small and quiet which seemed like a good thing, except that there was little space for vehicles wishing to overtake. A bit hairy at times! ...
