... New York, a couple from Derbyshire, two women from Brighton, a guy from Essex and the tour guide Dylan's dad, ranging in age from about 40 to 60+. We had a quick spin along the beach front, weaving in and out between people, small dogs and random street furniture. It's always a nervous time seeing who's super fit. Some of the folk were very quick but I know they are not always the ones who make it to the end.

... town, do the obligatory check out the church mass times, for Kathleen, a browse around the indoor market, coffee and a sandwich, whilst watching the French being their usually laid-back selves.

... joined by two determined women. The rest of us took a van boost up to the top. Paul was the first to make it to the top, and he felt so good he turned around and went partway back down to encourage the riders who were struggling. While on the mountain, we saw several Tour de France-quality riders practicing their descents, which left all of us whispering "reckless" (at the same time wishing we had their abilities).

The views were spectacular and progress ...
