Ashes to Ashes, Lust to Dust
... We climb, seemingly endlessly, on curvy switchback roads with short walls that separate us from sheer cliffs that fall to the sea below. Beaches and bays and the occasional town appear below us. The towns Claudio calls “cement oceans.” As motorbikes pass us racing head on toward opposing traffic, the most foolhardy prompt my favorite Claudio quote, “The mother of stupidity is always pregnant.” These drivers are ...
Amazing Amalfi Coast
After Naples, Sorrento was a welcome relief. We arrived hot and sweaty from Naples, having taken the same un-airconditioned train that we took to Pompeii.

The Isle of Capri
... the ferry port. Capri is full of steps but a gorgeous place. Plenty of locals going about their business as well as the touristy stuff. With satisfied bellies and tired legs we jumped on the ferry heading for home. Another chilled night (that didn’t include a bbq as per Gary’s wishes – there was no fire wood) but we still had good food and then it was time to hit the hay after our tiring but wonderful day exploring Sorrento and the Island of ...
