... for a swim in the hotel pool It's extremely warm. ( except for the pool - all Helen could say was. "Cold" for ten minutes. ) Evening and we popped on the bus to the local town and had the best restaurant meal yet, moules to start and pizza (so big I took it away afterwards). The restaurant was heaving and at least 20 people outside in the street waiting to come in... Walking down the streets afterwards all the others were empty !! ...

... on for our first real view of Venice. We listened to Rick Steve's audio tour of the Grand Canal and soaked in the view. Venice is beautiful and quite unique. We hopped off of Vaparetto at St. Mark's Square and meandered around.

Thursday the 26th
September – Away at 7.30am in
drizzle which softened the view, sometimes to a point of
invisibility, towards Innsbrook via Bavaria's Munchin – I think a
prettier name than Munich. We had scenery which was hard to
photograph from the coach due to rain drops on the windows but which
was flat to rolling hills, lovely farmland and forest with buildings

... for a 15 min ride. " How much is it by the public water transport ?" we ask. " He says " 7 , but it will take you about an hour and then you have to walk to your hotel from the stop. ( with our suitcases, backpacks etc. )

We got up fresh as hell in the morning. We had a beautiful drive into Austria for white water rafting, and got to see our first snow for this trip. Considering it is summer here, that's pretty damn awesome. The tops of the mountain still had snow on them. I was pretty damn keen on white water rafting. The water temperature was supposed to be less than 6 degrees apparently. We were wearing big wet suits a spray jacket and a life jacket, so ...
