... wind to turn the motor off so we settled for lunch. We passed Belle Ile and the Quiberon a Peninsular on are way to Island of Houat. Still flat seas but wherever you looked other yachts were motoring 3.15pm engine off at last but only for 1 hour as at 4.15 engine on, what a shame lets hope for more wind tomorrow for going to Ile de yeu. Lovely settled eve at anchor made mince from pork steaks and made homemade burgers with rice and aubergine lovely way to end our day ...

Last Wednesday M. and I set off on our annual journey by car, to our apartment in Spain, via Irish Ferries and a picturesque route through France. It nearly didn't happen this time... Because while doing some last minute shopping on Saturday, I fell heavily on the pavement in the town centre. After Elven we were in need of sustenance. Vannes was our destination, not far down the motorway, on the Gulf of Morbihan. It was easy getting into the centre of the city and found a parking spot (free between 12 and 2 being lunchtime when shops shut) and walked back through narrow cobbled streets - the norm really - and quickly chose a busy cafe with seats outside under the shade. ... out over the forest around, way above the tops of huge oak and pine trees. There was a room where Henry VII of England was kept prisoner for 18 months - under a different name, and 10 years before he became king. It's only been sold twice in its history, to the current owners family in 1686!

The second tower wasn't open to the public, it was more recently restored, had windows and a roof, but there was no information about it. We walked around ...
