Sitting hoping there will be an avalanche while I'm taking it all in ...not to be ...would have made it more interesting ...it was still pretty cool!! ... br> It stayed sunny until two minutes after we sat on a bench overlooking the cobalt blue Lago di Lamar to eat our lunch. We had time to make it to shelter under the trees before the hailstones started. Two herons seemed to be enjoying the weather as they swooped and glided across the lake surface. After lunch it wasn’t a long walk back to the campsite and so we called it a day and headed back to Ruby.

We headed off to the Salle de Monte Cocca (Salle means saddle) and up the Valle ...
... and lots of traffic were totally ignored once I flicked the lever to Manual and used the paddle shifters to encourage to horses to get their act together! The next minutes flew past so damn quickly as I was told to "use the gas" by my guide and gave the beast some stick! For a rev head like me, it was total bliss listening to the screaming V8 and using the instantaneous shifters to up and down the 7 speeds!
All too soon we were back in the parking lot and my dream was ...
... magnificent views of the local Dolomite Mountains and to the snow capped Alps to the North. It was a glorious warm day and we stood for ages taking in the scenery - it is truly a wonderful part of the world!
A glass of wine and a local apple strudel, while viewing all this, made a great afternoon tea and then we caught a cable car down the mountain and back to the city - again with views of Bolzano and the ...
