... to the KZN coast. After one or two hairy, scary wrong turns, we found the ferry in San Giovanni and made the 20 minute crossing to Messina in Sicily - very exciting to start the Sicily portion of our trip, if a little apprehensive, as I never know whether the places we book online will be habitable and remotely resemble their descriptions..... will report back soon..... We got mistaken for German tourists by a well dressed gentleman who directed us to an illy coffee place. It was lovely. I went to the Farmicia by myself to get some allergy tablets and after signing, role playing etc We understood each other. We were the only foreigners in town. When we ...

... panini with cheese and tomato. This is because they don't recognise "no carne" as including fish. Back onto the highway and when we past Bari it was like being in Dubai. Plenty of flat roofed apartments and they went for miles. Our impression of Bari that we had from the Discovery Italy book was of a quaint seaside town, no way it was huge. I was relieved that I'd booked accommodation outside of Ostuni as I didn't fancy negotiating the narrow hectic streets. ...
