... we went to Polizzi Generosa, about 12 kilometers towards Cefalu, parked and walked the steep streets of this little town, being careful to park in a safe and non-ticketed area. We saw the standard castle, not as interesting as Petralia, again a few churches, and then made our way towards Cefalu and the Saponara B&B. Surprise, this B&B was almost as high in the sky as the Hotel Delle Rosa, but not quite the treacherous ...
No marmite, just rain
... away, other than the active marathon runners and water sports enthusiasts.
I would recommend staying in either Riva del Garda or Torbole as a good base from which to explore. If you are a keen cyclist or walker, then there is more than just the watersports to enjoy and if you just want to sit back and put your feet up... that would work too - just pick a warmer time of year as it would be a bit chilly sitting around in much less than a t.shirt at this time of year.

Hiking ahead of the marathon
... the Bastion to all visiting the area as the views are pretty spectacular, even on a cloudy day like today. It's a 30 minute climb up a purpose built pathway and a nice walk. The chapel is a much longer climb but still achievable if you take it slowly and are prepared to scramble a little towards the end, again worth it for the views.

Otzi the Iceman
... are written in Italian and German) but Bolzano is a special case - it speaks Italian. Like being a foreigner in your own country. Its under an hour by train from Trento, easy.
