... fallen after being told that all the boats were booked today and we couldn't have one. We booked one for Wednesday instead. So plan A had failed and was postponed. Mike undeterred from his requirement to board a boat decided that Plan B could be to board one of the ferries and visit Sirmione instead. ... of peaks which we knew had a glacier on it. To get to it you drive across a dam which in itself was amazing. Once on the other side the kids shouted 'look it's a yoghurt pot lift!'. For those of you who skied in Les Arcs you will know exactly what that means, basically you stand up in a small cage which is only big enough for two and which is hanging from the cable. Fine for a short distance - but this one was massively long and ...

... letting the water run off very well, there was so much in such a short time it was forming puddles in dips in the roof. We did what we could to fix it and retreated to the luxury of the caravan to play Uno and congratulate ourselves on not being in a tent! As we peered out the window at other people who were tenting with a river in the middle of their tent we felt very smug with our dry caravan and a nice cup of tea. Until... ...
