... where we got more 'Spoleto' and subway. We were so bloated afterwards we could barely move. We waddled over to the cinema and checked what was on. I wanted to see the fast and the furious but the other two preferred to go to a film called 'The Kingsman'. If you fancy wasting two hours of your precious time then go to see it. It was painfully ****. The other two wouldn't admit it was garbage but I knew full well they thought it was ****. Walked back home and hit the bed.

... the market there was a bit more space to breath and we followed various tourist signs to the cities attractions although "attractions" is a bit of a strong word. Half the time we didn't know what we were supposed to be looking at. The city itself just seems really bland and has no real identity. There is also a lot of graffiti and derelict buildings. ... as it was Rob's celebration we splashed out with some wine! Back at the hostel we took advantage of our free caipirinhas, I even got behind the bar to show off my Mahiki skills :)! Although we'd been warned that the night life on a Monday wasn't great we wanted to give Rob a great birthday so we braved the streets and headed out. Today we met with Atlantica Hotels International group, which has many hotels (including the Raddison we are staying at and the Clarion we visited as well). I was most impressed with the Clarion Hotel. In the US, Clarion is seen as a budget-friendly hotel. It is not fancy and is not seen as a major player in Business Travel, but the Clarion in São Paulo is very different. They are a very nice facility with luxurious hotel rooms and corporate long-stay apartments. ...

Lunch at the JNJ cafeteria was good. As with almost everything else, everything was very open (at least what could be, not manufacturing plants themselves). We ate outside on a large patio. This is stupid, bu tthe tapioca pudding was really good (I had 2). So anyway, a nice lunch outside under a pavilion by a lake - definitely not what I am used to ...
