Today we had a 20.1km climb at 5.5%. It was overcast but thankfully the rain held off until we were arriving at the campsite. Our SPOT tracker has died today, so unfortunately shows us still in Guilestre! We plan to carb load now as have a huge day tomorrow up the Cime de la Bonette (2802m), a 23.1km climb at 6.5%. Yikes. ... and we very much enjoyed the 31km descent and stopping in Arvieux for a burger, salad and proper coffee! We made it to the campsite in good time and glorious sunshine so we went straight in the pool! Time to rest now as we have another big challenge tomorrow. ... amazing as we passed above the tree line. The scree slopes near the top were quite spectacular. Around 2km from the top, Cime de La Bonette came into view. It was a dome shaped mountain top with dark grey scree slopes. It was looking quite foreboding as a dark, barren silhouette against the cloudy sky.
