    ... have a quick coffee and get our bearings. We look up the map on the iPad and see the route to the Uffizi. Along we go (the wrong direction initially but we soon correct that) and arrive at the Uffizi courtyard. Eventually we discover which queue we need to stand in to swap our pre-paid voucher for tickets. But..... There is a small sign saying that today, due to a staff meeting, the Uffizi could be open from 10:30 until 5:00! Bummer, doesn't sound ...

    ... and in a fantastic central position - about 200m from the Duomo. We checked in and went for a wander. The Duomo is an impressive masterpiece that is part Neo Renaissance, part Gothic architectural styles. It also is a very handy landmark to help us to find our way home from various parts of the town centre. We decided to make our way to Palazzo Vecchio but after some..err...creative map reading...we ended up at the opposite end of town. ...
