Today we got to sleep in and left the hotel at 8:45 to take a walking tour of Florence. Our hotel is in the center of Florence. Our hotel is called the Grand Hotel Baglioni. Again, we have a wonderful hotel and a lovely room. On our guided walk, our first stop was at the Doumo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Del Fiore. (Fiore means flower). The cathedral is most known for its dome, the first Renaissance dome, and a model for those domes to ...

It seemed like it was overcast, but as I soon found out, the sun was out in full force. By the time dinner rolled around I was as red as a lobster. I shrugged it off as nothing, and proceeded to go to bed. It was a terrible night's sleep, and I soon discovered that this was no simple sunburn. The ...

... everyone went back to their respective seats and all was well. Next stop was at a vineyard in Castellina in Chianti owned by Poggio family, thie vineyard is smack bang in the middle of the Chianti district, or the 'black rooster'. We were given a brief tour of the vineyard and processing area, had lunch with some samples of white and red wine. Off to Sienna now with a guided walking tour of the city centre and then free time. Piazza del Campo is a stunning place to be ...
