... quite a few little alleys that were built so the aristocrats could get from their villas to the courtyards and streets. The tall townhouses have the same sort of coloured facades that the ones in Florence had, but they all had the French style loft windows that we love (that remind us of the first loft apartment we stayed at in the Marais in Paris). Took the car today, and went for a drive.
Headed north of Chambery and decided to drive around Lake Bourget, and stop at a few towns along the way.
It is very picturesque, and looks a long way on the map.
The towns on the western side, are all very small, with a few vineyards along the way.

After breakfast I pump up the tyre to 3 bars and bid goodbye to my host, Stefan. For the solo traveller it is expensive to stay here (€59.50 for bed & breakfast) but I reckon I could be back again. Maybe next year with Mick.
