... the local bar and settled in for a few drinks and complimentary tapas.

Wed 11 Nov
Riva Ligura even better in the sunlight had a pretty little piazza and church which had a beautiful painted interior - much unexpected by us. The novalty factor was it had automatic sliding doors!
Riva Liguria, Liguria, Italy darrenhough74After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74Up early as it was a spectacular sunrise - full of pinks and organges. We wanted to hit McWifi before we entered Italy but we did not find one until later in the day in Menton. Before that we drove the coast road through Nice and Monte Carlo, both concrete ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74... seen and spoken to, to date.
Set off mid morning to drive through Gorges du Verdon, again another stunning drive. This time though the weather was kind to us and we were able to get out for a hike after lunch. It seemed like a popular drive as we encountered several other tourists, one couple were eating lunch at the same spot we were. They packed up their picnic, took a swig out of ...
Grasse, Provence, France darrenhough74... experience at Sababini's was very personable! The eight course meal was superb! We both chose the steak and lobster, otherwise referred to as surf and turf! The service was fantastic! Sabatini's provided a more intimate and personable experience! We were glad we arrived with an apetite. Otherwise, the eight courses would've been too much. The champagne carried us through dinner until the cappuccino's. <br ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco ricknelsie... in our entryway anymore, OMG I can't wait to get home! A month is just too long. It's weird, I was fine living in Germany for three years. I missed the States every once in a while, but nothing too bad. But there is something about being away from home that makes it entirely different this time. I'm sure it'd be fine if Harry was with us. Anyway, we've got some rum to finish off before we leave tomorow, so I'd better get to it. :) Goodnight! Next entry from America, whooo hooo!
Villefranche-sur-Mer, Provence, France callamatisse... and that felt great. It was funny because today we had a lesson that went over some of the stuff you might encounter while shopping. Guess we went one day early! Then on the bus home, we talked to the bus driver, and another passenger. We had dinner in Beaulieu, and Aaron tried squab, which was yum. It was the best dinner we've had here so far. We didn't get home until almost 10, so it sucked to sit down and ...
Villefranche-sur-Mer, Provence, France callamatisse... We forgot to bring bags from the apartment, so we had to buy some, but other than that it went just fine. The rain was light when at all, so it wasn't some miserable time at the bus stop waiting. (Remember that old song? "Please share my umbrellllla") We came back home and did laundry with my newly purchased soap and fabric softener and made our own little lunch with ham and Abondonce cheese. I've been wanting to have some more for two years ...
Villefranche-sur-Mer, Provence, France callamatisse... lunch at a sandwich stall on the beachfront. It was a great view, I looked at the sparkling sun and the sea while Fletcher had other distractions!! After about 45 minutes we headed off again. We drove onto Nice. This is a very large place and we temporariily took a wrong turn and spent about 15 minutes getting back to the right road. We eventually found the Promenade D'Anglais, the esplanade of Nice and ...
Villefranche-sur-Mer, Provence, France mrsmac... back to A'dam, about 5 hours away. We will likely stop in Verdun on the way to see the trenches and craters that make up the last remaining scars from WWI. Being our first ever 2-week vacation, it sure did fly by and I can happily report that Julie and I are still talking to one another =) Hope all is well with everyone and happy tax day!
