... and instead went out to a great classic Provencal dinner, and got some good wine. But then, we started to see a couple kids in costumes, or rather just kids in sheets. I think one of them had a mask. But on our way back from dinner, we found the bar scene. Mostly it was just people out on a normal Saturday night, but we had to at least go check it out. We were somewhat impressed with the Halloween scene, and probably could ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France tommcatt... write her address and draw a map I realized that something was terribly wrong. She drew a map of Corse (Corsca) - a little French island I the Medeterranian. We were headed to Corse, not Italy! The victim of not having an Italian map and too little internet time. Who knew? Propriano certainly sounds Italian to me…

We weighed our options:
1) continue on and cycle across Corse (2700m altitude ...
Marseille, Provence, France 2totango... Aix...oh, the Brits abroad, mon dieu! Still, best 6€ I've ever spent. We've also been along to the cinema. Embarassingly, it was to see Fame but I'd like to point out how important cinema, and going to the cinema, is to the French. There are at least 3 cinemas in Aix, and there are huge film posters everywhere. 'Le Cezanne', has it's name lit up, and, unlike at home, the seats are like armchairs and there's plenty of leg room. But, like at home, it's bloody ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France cft89Bonjour avec Aix-en-Provence Cherie
Since the last news we have visited the Cote D'Azur spending time at Monte Carlo and Antibes. We stayed near Antibes at a place called Biot and at night you could hear the seals at nearby Marineland - very strange. It was still quite hot and stickey with more mozzies. Monte Carlo was wall to wall money with billions of dollars in boats and cars. Antibes was similar but it had a lovely old town as well.
We arrived ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France falkewind... s how. From there I simply validate my account and I’m part of a network which allows me free access from many different parts of France. But I don’t understand; I still need a router and signal coming from this hotel. Why do I even need this network? And where’s my little blue ball down there? I ask too many questions. Sometimes it’s better just to take what’s given and be grateful. That ...
Marseille, Provence, France hardiek... towns. It is a little further south and east and is surrounded largely by a cedar forest, so we got a very different, but equally beautiful view from some of the others we enjoyed throughout the day. We had no luck getting snacks, and it was too early for dinner, so we had to cut our visit a little short or starve. On the way home I spotted a boulengerie and we picked up bread, tarts and Lucy got something with nuts.
Bonnieux, Provence, France 3beansabroad... has a 100-year-old collection of miniature soldiers of Napoleon's army (I can't believe we didn't take a picture!). Not only that, he also has an original book of Napoleon's journal entries, which was published by Napoleon's secretary a few years after his death. Really interesting stuff! Our visit was quite nice. Everyone except me enjoyed Bernard's super-strong coffee and fresh pastries from ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France globetrotters... mentioned areas. Worth a visit, but no contest to the others. Bordeaux. The region with the best-known wine is actually the flattest and least interesting wine region we have visited. It looks like Kansas with vines to be blunt. If you expand it to St. Emillion one would have to change the rating, but Bordeaux proper doesn't rate on the landscape scale. Activities (besides wine that is) Provence. If your idea of a good time is slagging ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France jenandjeffmilum... in the sun by the pool. Aperitif's were again at 6, and we had a great dinner suggestion by our hosts to go to a place called Chez Féraud, which was run by a mother and son team. They spoke very little English, we spoke very little French, but pointing at the English menu does go a long way with our attempts at communicating. We ate well, and again treated ourselves to dessert and a nice bottle of wine. Of course, we walked back to the hotel and just fell asleep as fast as possible!
Aix-en-Provence, France heiditournoux... to be like once I went back to school. Because of all these concerns I had, I was not very comfortable with the idea of returning back to the US at that time period, yet it was starting to look as if I didnt' have another choice. Then one day, mom tells me about this idea she has: she was thinking since I would not be able to take regular classes at the University of Burgundy, why couldn't I find another program in like Spain or France that could allow ...
