we're here and it's snowing!

... re staying in a nice posh chalet (one of the ones our company rents out) and just practicing the cooking etc. We're living with all the people who are going to be in working in our resort. There's only 6 of us - another couple and two single girls. also one resort manager.

Monday night Dave did the cooking and exploded one of the desert dishes under the grill so a good start - had to bin the whole lot but not my fault so all good! we seem to have done quite ...

Winter is coming.

... pictures and updating my blog. The grading system here is tough compared to what I'm used to but I will adjust. The company I am consulting for is interested in expanding to the U.S. and has us conducting market research for key demographics. Its a nice change of pace from school work, there's little structure and its almost entirely self regulating. Its a welcomed increase of freedom as well as responsibility.

That's all I've got for now friends, until next time.

... and stopped in the room for a break and to catch up
on the blog. I headed out for a beer on the square and then found an
Italian place highly regarded in the guide books. I sat at the bar
and had a nice meal of bruschetta and a ham and mushroom pizza and a
nice Rhine Reisling to accompany them. Things are quite slow this
time of year and there were only a few people in the restaurant, but
the service was good and the meal was also. Back to the room as I

and then wandered through the old town the last day and had a great
time.

Upon returning from Spain,
two days later I then boarded a train in East Lansing for a tour that
I was leading for America by Rail, that took 44 people from Chicago
to Albany, NY and then by bus through Vermont and New Hampshire for a
fall foliage tour. The color was not quite at peak, although it was
very pretty. I had a great group of people and every ...

Mont Blanc!

... 20 off we went.
The route was via motorways, we did turn off for a Lidl, getting some more money and petrol. We also sat outside the Maccas in the carpark to use the free internet to book accomodation. Our hotel is the number one ranked on Tripadvisor for great views and good service. Hopefully a very nice view of Mont Blanc, so we can see what the pens are trying to achieve on the top of the lids..hehe. I do remember selling Mont Blanc pens at David Jones during Uni..they were ...

Skiiers paradise and Jon's nightmare

... poorly marked. Half the streets in Europe are so narrow anyways; they all look like one ways. So this car pulls up behind up and blocks us in, sweet, it’s the cops. They tell us we went up a one way.... So we honestly tell them it was a mistake and we're trying to turn around. Then they ask us where we are coming from and how much have we had to drink? Here we go... We had 1 big bottle of beer each 2 hours ago, then split ...

trekking next to Mont Blanc

As we were next to the Alps, we decided to go trekking around Chamonix for a couple of days, and get some fresh mountain air. Nats felt at home as the place we stayed in Chamonix was the exact same as where she stayed 4 years ago when she came skiing here!!

We were very lucky wih the weather on the first day, and the views over the mountain range was magnificent. We walked from Vallorcine up to the lac ...

Chamonix - Always white on top

My main goal for the little trip was 'The tour de France' in Annecy. But before heading home I couldn't resist to go to Chamonix. Being so close to the highest mountain in Europe I had to go there. So I did. It was early morning when I was there. Not crowded (yet).

Skiing is for little fat kids

... give it a go as well. Not to be left behind, I decided to join them on the uber steep off piste mountain slope down. The one thing about off piste that proves both to be a blessing and at the same time, a potential downfall is the depth of the soft snow. My levels of bravery increased to just above the "wimp" level, enough to make me follow the girls over the edge. They seemed to do pretty well on the way day, while I just had not a clue. Not surprising ...

Live for the slopes

... of the last word) but it is pronounced meadie, then when u get to the top ur guide will find you and will take you on a 150 ish metre walk along a norrow part of the peak to a place where you will be able to put ur skis on and get on down the hill.
this run's length depends on how much snow they get. but it took my group about half the day.
I loved it. I stayed in a very confortable motel as well. everything was great.
Definately do it.
