... We climbed out of Brian(s)con and headed to the Col du Lautaret. This was beautiful fast road with lost of curves but no switchbacks. Just a buzz to ride and climb into the blue sky through green alpine pastures. From their it was up to the Col de Galibier. At 2642m as its only slightly lower than Ruapehu (2797m), but the surrounding countryside could not have been more different.
Yesterday we took a field trip to the French Alps. It was by far the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and I had one of the best days of my life there! I never truly understood why everyone was so in awe over the mountains (all of them, not just the Alps) until I got to see the sunrise come up over the tips while climbing up the side of the mountain range. It was so breath taking ...
... found a bakery where I rewarded my success with a "pain au chocolat" and waited until I saw the others return so we could get back on the bus for the two hour ride back.
Let me just take this moment to say thanks to all the good bus drivers out there, especially in France. It just amazes me sometimes how we made it up and down those hairpin turns and parked 1 foot from another bus.

... br> At the end of the afternoon, when we arrived back at the hotel I was totally exhausted, every movement costed me more energy than usual. apparently I have some problems with the thin air here at 2300 meter above Sea level.
Now we're going out for a beer (or two). if i don't break both of my arms, neck or other important bones in my body one of these days, I'll update soon
