... less than 10m away ...
It's still bloody hot but this is a nice camp, and very quickly neutralised the memories of last night...
After a record quick set-up we threw ourselves into the lake, and have had I think about 8 swims so far. Fresh water, about 26deg, the usual pebble beach and bottom, but ...

... this morning and arrived at the CAF Refuge Les Contamines about 3:30 pm, hot and tired! Our hiking time was about 5 1/2 hours. This was one of our 4 long days - 18 kilometers ( About 10.5 miles). Then we headed up again, and up again and up again. The views were amazing, we walk up to cols ( like a saddle ) then down to another ridge, then up again. There is lots of snow, forests of pines, rock faces, and many little brooks and streams with icy cold water. Our ...

Garmin says...

Distance: 68 km
Ascent: 1358 m
Descent: 1666 m
We took: 5h 33m

Stoker quote of the day: "DO WE HAVE TO CYCLE THIS CLOSE TO THE EDGE!?"

Leaving Val D'Isere this morning we realised how fortunate we had been to do the D902 ascent to the village the day before, on a Sunday. There is a lot of construction going on in the village itself and there must be a lot of traffic, including heavy ...
