We soon learn that we had arrived right in the midst of the finishing afternoon of the Chamonix Ultra Trail, culminating a week's worth of racing in these mountains. The last race, similar to our own Hardrock 100 in mileage (this one being 170 kilometers) was just finishing about 4 p.m. Sunday ...

... Blanc Tunnel (40€) in our rental car, I was apprehensive and even a bit nervous - like I felt heading to Disneyland in the '80s. Would it really be everything I had dreamed of? When we exited the tunnel on the French side, it was drenching and Wally World was definitely closed.
