Today I crossed another wish off my bucket list. Ever since I was a little girl I remember my mum talking about wanting to go to Switzerland. Sadly my mum never made it, but I swore that I would do it for her. There were a few tears as we went over the border and I saw the alps for the first time. Switzerland is all I had heard about and imagined. Yes, it is very expensive, yes the lakes ...

    Race Day

... After a celebratory drink we made our way back to the bus stop and managed to buy some tickets this time. The younger generation slept the whole journey , anyone would have thought they had done a triathlon. We stocked up at the supermarket with BBQ food and more beer, before returning back to base camp. The family were arriving tonight and expected the fridge to ...

If anything, it is perhaps a bit too perfect, if that makes any sense. With organisations like the International Red Cross, World Council of Churches and United Nations either having their headquarters or very important offices there, it reminded me a bit of Miss Congeniality where all the contestants ended all ...

... in the downstairs dining room with the most magnificent views overlooking Lake Geneva and the magnificent Swiss Alps. After a delicious breakfast we went and explored the grounds (which were just gorgeous) and then headed out for a day trip to Lausanne, a quick 30km away, passing back into Switzerland. Lausanne was OK, some lovely buildings, but I think I prefer the small villages to the big cities. Still, we passed some magnificent scenery on the way; Alps and the lake to our ...
