... aboard that greatly decreased the rolling of the boat, but this still wasn’t enough to keep two of the guests from getting sea sick. The Captain gave them some motion sickness medicine and had them come up to the bridge where they could clearly see out of the yacht. This helped Nickie, but not Noel who threw up before going to her room to sleep. I spent the afternoon and evening with our other guest’s ...
Leucate, Languedoc-Roussillon, France mylifesjourneyWell, finally - after a false start setting out to pick up friends from Pau airport a day early! - first night: moored up alongside the Canal du Midi, just south of Beziers. Some very noisy ducks for company... Bit of a gloomy one weather-wise. Rained last night, but forecast suggests brightening up gradually as day goes on. Slowing our departure from ...
Villeneuve-lès-Béziers, Languedoc-Roussillon, France marcdolavWe saw a man get beaten-up who then came back and broke a window. This beaten-up man was then chased by another man with a baseball bat. What the heck? Seriously? This city sucks. Don't come here.
The whole city has a "Clearwater" feel to it. There are hundreds of french and spanish tourists that come here to see the ...
... hill full of massive bugs and locusts. It was this night I had my first freak out. We were drinking wine whilst engaging in philisophical convosation when I heard a noise which sounded exactly like Hyienas. When I turned to see six massive badgers I ran and screamed like a small girl to my tent. The most embarassing part is that I hadn't registered them as badgers and I was screaming "Hyienas!!"
"Allo Pysnoo. Serais-tu intéressé pour partir en Hollande?
Euh??? Ais-je le choix?
Bah en fait, pas vraiment!

... He tells me about his experiences at the hills and we quickly venture to our ¨spots¨that we hope to take the prize photo. This city is pretty and has charm. The finish line is too crowded and I run about 1K up from the finish line. I find a spot on the rail to get great shots. The riders come shorlty after I arrive and I take several shots. They fly by this section and the race ends so quickly. I am always ...
Perpignan, Languedoc-Roussillon, France 90daywalkabout... the harvest preparations have begun across the Corbieres as the vines change from green to every shade of gold imaginable. Little tractors haul the carefully picked Carignan, Grenache and Mouvedre grapes to the local cooperatives for weighing and inspection. Local growers watch the assessment of their hard work with nervous anticipation as rising standards means less room for mediocrity. For the wine lover, the Corbieres AOC offers deep, powerful reds ...
Durban-Corbières, Languedoc-Roussillon, France suzyr... well as me and her nephew Alex, and Alex's father Wolf. Together, we tried to put together a program that we could use for the following year, when we actually had students who couldn't speak the language, and whose parents would be paying for them to come to France to learn French. We ended up taking a lot of field trips, and for the sake of you readers, I won't document them all here. They'll all have their own entry, and I'll be trying to get ...
Paziols, France emiglia... city. A beautiful site even if after years of abandonment and being quarried for its stones, it was rebuilt in the 19th century! Jan's mum and dad have now joined us - great to have them here, and the kids are certainly glued to them. Jan's sister Lyn will join the gang for Xmas on the 23rd. So....Ted and Jan have decided to run away for a few days alone - to Florence. Look forward to sleeping a bit later, to walking past the parks, the fountains, the art work, peaceful long ...
