... June’s Comments:

The drive to Portland was quick – we only stopped for gas and fast food. The visit with Tom, Denise and Foster from Thursday to Monday was well worth the long drive. We took two days to drive back to Milton. Besides Montreal, the weather was very mild and the trees sported their usual fall colors for this time of year.

Getting ready to travel - departure date 10/25

... our travels with you through this blog and hope it goes successfully. One of our audiences will be Sophie and Isabelle's classes...."hello fellow classmates/teachers". We hope to bring to this blog our personal experiences and reactions as well as some history and educational value. The girls would also like to challenge the classes with periodic questions about our destination to see if the classes can come up with the answers.

Portland ME

... a ride on an authentic old time train around the city's harbor and see many of the extraordinary sites that have stood for decades.
Most of the city is compact and perfectly walkable. There is so much to see and do that you will never feel bored or disappointed. One thing for sure, you definitely will not go hungry or run out of places to shop! The Old Port District is the historic side of Portland, and it is a wonderful area reminiscent of America's humble beginnings.

... chris said BOOOOOO!) and so we hopped aboard shore for the last time. boothsbay is a bit more touristy than the other cute towns we had been in, but we settled in for one last meal of burgers at the only place still open (it was about 8 or 9 pm). it was perfect.

chris and i woke up at 4:30 am for a pick up to Rockland Airport. we took a tiny plane to Logan Airport and then we were off to Vegas!

thanks again tim and eileen!!!

Day 23 - Portland Maine to Woodstock, NH

... and apparently quite a mecca of outdoor activities. As we drove in the front KOA gate I see a big statue of a bear and I say to myself "Oh no, please no bears !" From a trip a few years a go to Long Beach on Vancouver Island I have developed a real aversion to bears ! We stayed here for 1 night and love it so much decided that once we drop the girls off we are going to ...

Yay, we reached the other ocean!! Portland, Maine

The drive to here was very pretty; the trees are still in color. Not as vibrant as a few weeks ago but I can see now why so many people come in the fall to this area for all the colors. We drove thru New Hampshire (for about 5 minutes, hahaha) and entered Maine. I was excited to make it to "the other" ocean. Johannah and I are both sooooo ready for some pounding of waves, feel the sand between our toes, the salty air and the wind. I decided to get ...

Day 153 – Helicopter Attack

... to share was more than enough to stuff us silly. We sat and ate them in big wooden chairs next to the camp fire that was burning away in an attempt to stave off the chill of the autumn morning.

As the site is really nice and well cared for, even at this late stage of the season, we had decided to stay for another night and so waddled across to reception to book in. Then we waddled to the phone to call ...

... game and no olympics! Then the spa was so expensive we almost fainted before we walked out the door. Then it rained even harder. Ha ha ha! What a day. Just as we were leaving, we bumped into the boys who didn't end up going surfing afterall because of the weather. We drove to a pub and watched the olympic...wrestling...gah!?! Then we drove to Lewiston and checked out the brewery (pretty bad yankie beer). Finally we headed to Rack M Up and I used all my olympic dart ...

... was spent getting pruney in the pool! We did Guardian training......seriously! Except they didn't put ice in our pool!!! It was so wicked. We did so many rescues, from the surface of the water, the bottom of the 12 foot deep end, and the shallow end......We use that deadly red lifesaving float that they use on Baywatch.........We jump from helicopters (erm...well, it was only the ...
