... pretty hot. We knew we were in trouble though, when the taxi driver didn't want to take us to the hotel. Got there to find I had picked one of the worst locations in town. No public transport, shady area and trains running behind the hotel.

After dumping our stuff, we headed down to the nearest Metro station. Half a mile isn't that far, right? The footpath between the hotel and the traffic lights was really dirty and almost non-existent in some places. ...

... way back down the mall and had a nice time sharing stories until we made it past the basketball madness and to the beer event.

The event paired beer with food and had something like 48 breweries who each had 2 beers. Needless to say there was waaay more beer than I could handle. There were no blockades or signs indicating we could not walk in front of the white house, but we were abruptly stopped by security guards who told us we could not walk in front of the white house at that time. I felt sorry for the family who we passed as we were exiting the area because they had small children and we heard the guards bark at them also in a very unpleasant tone. Oh well...
