It's sad to leave our buds in Indianapolis, but we had to start making our way West. We left Noblesville around 9am after making a quick trip to the grocery store [side note, I have started a great collection of grocery discount cards, today I got one at Kroegers :-) ]. The weather was calling for some strong storms just north of our route so we were fortunate they weren't going to get in our way. We headed west out Route 70 through St. Louis so we could see the St. ...

... Where's Zoeville? There are lots of caves and caverns around here as well as a few wineries. Tons of semi trucks along the highway. I noticed that when you're driving down a road like I-70 or 64 you get into a group of cars that all probably have their cruise control set at the same speed and its almost like a little community of super bored drivers truckin along the highway. After AD 1050, Cahokia became a regional center surrounded by farmsteads, villages, and satellite towns. The area peaked from AD ...

... at. Once in Columbus, we found a mechanic with good reviews and went to see if he could fit us in. We had to wait an hour to see him (during which we napped in the car). He looked at out car, tighten the alternator belt, and told us his services were free of charge 'In the spirit of Christmas'. :). It was SO wonderful to feel some Christmas cheer~ which can be hard to come by on the road. Feeling confident in the state of our car, we ...

... the Mississippi River and the stadium where the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball. Not sure if it was seeing things from that height or the tiny space or what but a few minutes was all we needed before we were ready to get back down. Back at floor level was a very interesting museum of history. We got to read about Lewis and Clark, see Teepees and learn new (to us) historical facts.

    We were ready at ...
