The sun shone in through the motel window, they said it would and it did. Not that this has been a wet holiday, but we have had our fair share of rain, more than normal (for us). This was our last day, a leisurely walk up Mill Mountain was to be our final day out for the holiday. Now don't laugh, but Mill Mountain is famous in these parts for the huge star on it's peak that is boasted to be the largest illuminated star in the USA. I can ...

... road system up and down. When we approached a sign for Rocky Mount it seemed a good idea to follow it, it wasn't! The road took us back down to a large freeway with a sign saying Rocky Mount 35 miles. Obviously, 'Flan****ns' had an obvious calling, we entered and found ourselves the only customers. The beer still tasted nice ...

It's a nearly 6 hour drive to a town (or city as Americans like to call all towns) called Roanoke. We chose the place because it is located in a valley between the Smoky Mountains, the Shenandoah National Park and of course the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The journey was a lot more scenic than some as we climbed at times through the passes carved out of the rock to form ...

... Farmsville. Lots of people bought a lot of food. I didn't think I needed any more snacks but as we had 2 hours until getting to the hotel, probably after 7pm I got cheese and crackers. Had a look at the sporting section again, bigger selection of guns this time. Finally got to the hotel. Went down to pool while doing laundry. Water cool for once. We went to the bar for dinner and had the ribs. They were delicious. Trying to get an early night. Big day of driving again ...
