We also learnt about the underground cellars from the 1800s called the Shanghai tunnels where visiting sailors would go into town for a night out drinking alcohol when they docked and were knocked out and pushed down a Shanghai tunnel in the ground beneath them. They were then sold off as blood money to ships needing crew. It was so bad here that ships stopped docking ...

What these books do is combine the classic texts of short stories (Edgar Allan Poe, Virginia Wolff, Jack London, etc) and combine them with illustrations from artists. The books are small...pocket sized and cost $4. I really liked the idea!
