    the next morning, we rose early and headed north about an hour to Valley of Fire State park to photograph the interesting windswept sandstone rocks. We got some interesting early morning shots near windstone arch and drove around through Piano Rock and checked out the campground.     ... to save ourselves some panic by hiking them in advance, as some mornings we have to do them in the dark to beat the crowds. It was too cold, snowy and windy to climb anyways. Then we spent New Year's Eve by the Bellagio fountain watching fireworks and watching all the crazy crowds be Vegas crazy. A chill day and night, but perfect in our opinion.

    More to come --- The rest of this trip will be mostly climbing and hiking and touristy photos! Be prepared :)

    ... the main strip and I must say, I was pretty impressed. It is just this massive, eccentric, indulgent, alive city right in the middle of the most boring stretch of desert imaginable.     ... He is a little bit fatter than I remember and his voice wasn't quite what it used to be but still pretty good. But what an entertainer. He had the full house eating out of his hands. People were up dancing and singing along with him. It was a great show. Only in Vegas!!
