“Our office furniture is different based on our rank. Lower-level employees have metal desks, and managers use wood desks. The larger and fancier the desk, the more important the employee is. The metal desks have a trim around the top edge. Our metal desks have a gold trim, and those who report to us have a silver trim. I never realized that before.”
