    'What you have do,' she says cheerfully 'is wait at the booking desk for the chance of a no show- or two.' Not good enough we tell her sharply- we have paid for those seats!

    Well, they weren't confirmed, says she and seeing our expressions shift from anxious to angry disappeared for an interminable period of time to see what she could do about it.

    So we are doomed to wait at airports one way or another.
