      ... called the desk for Internet access code; I could hear the clerk but he couldn't hear me), and the coffee maker didn't work. But the room was clean, and the service was good--when the phone didn't work, the clerk came dashing down to our room to make sure we were all right. Breakfast a vast improvement over Travelodge.

      ... for the bike - which is for safe riding, it works twice as well when someone buys it for you. It is a small bell that you hang under the bike to protect you as you ride - so thoughtful.

      We met some amazing friends of theirs, Lauren and Jack, Larry and Jo, Steve and Julie, Cliff and Felicia and John and Sharon's lovely son John.

      They had all helped prepare a good old American BBQ- burgers, ...

      ... Stupid me, I had forgotten to activate my roaming! Grrr. Fortunately a very nice young student allowed me to phone Wilma with here cell phone, so I could confirm I was on my way ;-)

      And now I am here, all settled... I give myself a few days to cope with the jet lag, and wonder if Wilma and I will have enough with 3 weeks to catch up ;-)

      Tomorrow Thanksgiving with Steven's family, I am so happy to seeing them ...

      It's hard to believe how quickly all of this has happened. I got my teaching certification the middle of January, went to the international teaching conference the beginning of February, and was officially offered the job in Bahrain by the beginning of March!


      For those of you who haven't heard the official details, here goes:

      ... to you, they may never come again. I find myself looking back on those days more and more fondly. I think we were burned out when we came back -- and perhaps that's the one thing we should have changed -- the pace. But so much in this world to see.....there are *very* few places I regretted seeing.

      So here we are, back home, and while we're happy to be back, don't be surprised if another blog gets started a few years from now.
