    Nature and mini golf

We started our day in Fort Worth at a nature reserve. We parked up at the visitors centre and started with a 1 mile walk. We immediately came across a couple of large spiders and heaps of different coloured dragonflies. Sam wasn't keen on the walk after seeing the spiders and knowing there might be snakes around. The walk itself was nice though. We came across 'Prairie Dog Town' which at the time we could only see about four of them from the fence ...

10/1 Day 102 We are still camped at Texan RV Ranch and went sightseeing in the Dallas Fort Worth area. We started out going to Dealey Plaza this was the site where John Kennedy was shot. We decided to not go into the museum but to see some more of Fort Worth. We got hung up in accident traffic on our way from Dallas to FW so it took quite a while to make the trip.

First we visited the Fort Worth Stockyards. This is the oldest stockyards in the US. The surrounding area ...

9/29 Day 100 Today we traveled from San Antonio TX to College Station TX where one of our previous 4-H'rs is going to graduate school at Texas A&M. It was an easy trip of about 3.5 hours.

All in all, it was a mildly frustrating day; nothing big but lots of small glitches. It started out by Suzie taking us to a hardware store, actually she did not take us to the hardware store we were trying to find. She took us to the middle of a lower ...

... sitting down there. Texans are strangely trusting (or uncaring) as there are no guard rails anywhere, which I appreciate would ruin the effect of the water features, but it’s not a short drop down, and it’s all made of stone so if you fell off you would be in serious trouble. Same goes for the Mountain and Stage features of the park where you climb up to the top to get a full view of the park below. Huge steps, no actual staircase just slabs of randomly ...

... After lunch we had just enough energy left for a drive through downtown Fort Worth--no offense to Dallas residents, but Fort Worth always feels more like a "real town" to me--Dallas has some great restaurants and entertainment, but as a place to live, I don't think I'm alone in preferring downtown Fort Worth over its neighbor to the east.

Kippy also gave me some good advice about places to stop ...
