    Joanne and l left Medina early this morning. We stopped at the best bakery I have ever gone to for our breakfast bakery. Then since I had a captive audience I drove by my old house. It was still standing. The rest of my old haunts look the same but the area has really changed. Can't stop progress I guess.

    ... businesses appeared closed or if open they certainly did not look inviting. Homes that had obviously had a fire some time in the past were left standing-- it seemed like people just walked away from their homes but they stood there in whatever state or experienced vandalism after they walked away. It seemed to us that the impact of the downsizing of the auto industry was pretty evident still in Flint.

    ... and the snakes. We went to dinner at a place called the Outback Steakhouse. It tries to be Australian. I don't know any Australian restaurant where you can get lobster for $6.99! The hospice chaplain who came to visit us while Aunt Rita was dying identified himself with the Reformed Christian church. I had no idea what that had meant until I tried to understand Calvin College's place in the contemporary Christian world.

    ... readjust to my new timezone. Awesome.

    Okay. Enough for now. Umm..for future reference though..I'll try to post as much as possible. My brain is constantly on the move as it is, so posting should be a nice way for me to organize my thoughts/ upload pictures from events as my days continue. In a nutshell...GET PUMPED..because I am..and this is going to be sweet.
